But saying that BEING gay poses a threat to humanity and even suggesting that in order to protect humanity, there has to be something "done" about homosexuality, first of all scares me . If a Muslim leader in Austria had said something similar, he would be critisized from all sides of the political spectrum for not adapting to Western culture and values. I just don't see why the Pope should get away with it. And this has nothing to do with religious tolerance. (and being gay per se is not controversial at all. Just as slavery is simply wrong and wearing two different kinds of fabric at the same time shouldn't be punished by death). <br>And I am an atheist, so I have t rely on the separation of church and state, which is not quite clear in Austria and even less in the US.flame gun for the cute oneshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06105494192400149730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-904411846518028465.post-80099046930686105382008-12-23T21:59:00.000+10:302008-12-23T21:59:00.000+10:30Sometimes our religious leaders may be misundersto...Sometimes our religious leaders may be misunderstood as unintentionally extolling the religious texts above merits... Then the subject has a history to it where the religious texts in themselves are to an extent ambiguous and rather unclear. But I can appreciate this being a terribly controversial issue...although one thing is clear, I think we could focus on the real problems. Yes!?http://www.blogger.com/profile/01992276117548193938noreply@blogger.com
