Bad decision week

In a way, making a new "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie (hey, seriously, wasn't the original movie the jewel in the canonical universe?) without Joss Whedon, Sarah Michelle Gellar or any of the beloved characters is like releasing a new Terminator-movie to an audience that has grown accustomed to the genius that is "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" a couple of days after said audience was informed that they were not going to see Lena Headey, Summer Glau and Thomas Dekker reprise their roles for a third season and expecting anything but a series of catastrophic reviews. Respect the intelligence of the audience should be the first rule of everything.
By the way: seeing how some "T: SCC" fans got angry at "Dollhouse" for getting renewed (FOX wasn't definite on whether it was an either/or decision or not) was really sad. Kinda like a pop cultural version of"divide et impera". In other news, FOX complained about rumours concerning the airing or not airing of the 13th first season episode "Epitaph One" (the post-apocalyptic episode featuring Felicia Day). Somehow I felt like this is actually about how fans did not appreciate how something that is meant for a longer arc is turned into a precious, precarious little adventure of how much emtional capital to invest without getting screwed over once again, as happened with "Firefly".
