Reaction Post - I'm through being polite.

The Good Wife: 5x06 The Next Day.

In a preview of what's likely to come in the next few weeks, Diane prepares for what she thinks will be her last case, a complicated gun misfire that cost the life of her client's husband, except Alicia used to do most of the legwork on it so the client decides to ask for her of representation at the last moment - which leads to mostly hilarious if increasingly vicious attempts to keep the files from Florrick/Agos (including rats, redaction, general mischief). To add insult to injury, Kurt McVeigh Lockhart makes a last moment moral call to support Alicia since this is kind of his thing (and presumably the one reason why Diane is dealing with the gun stuff so well). Since money ended up being the deciding factor in the end, Will and Diane won, but Diane's still not happy (the Disciplinary Board head Alicia drags Will and her to reveals to her that Peter's been vetting other candidates, and once she gets through to his office, her worst suspicions are confirmed), and Will's just weird, mainly, with all his empire-building energy.
  • Pregnant (or is she?) Marilyn (who apparently only works mornings, odd for someone who suffers from morning sickness but usual TGW humour) tries to explain the friend-enemy thing that she's doing in her position and points out to Alicia that Peter's willing to do pretty much anything to "protect the family". Will says the same thing, if in less polite terms (which was pretty great though - he gets to hurt Alicia as much as he wants but when someone else does, the weird territorial thing kicks in). Marilyn also warns Alicia that Cary's a bit too open about things, which could be bad both for her and Peter.
  • Does Alicia genuinely not realize what Peter's doing? I wonder if she will once she finds out about Diane, but it's hard to believe she wouldn't have seen the connection between Peter's speech and the firm landing ChumHum (or, from how ruthlessly she got the client to change firms this time around, maybe she doesn't care, but that's hard to believe).
  • The no-office space situation is going to turn into a running joke as Will continues to spoil options for Alicia to get rid of her new "partners", who now live there and drink all her wine and have weird conversations with her daughter.
  • Robyn vs. Kalinda is totally happening. Obviously.
  • Will has a tattoo now. And a tattoo artist.
