It's a small world

The same week in which Jane Espenson's run on the Season 8 of Buffy (in comic form) starts, the pilot movie to "Warehouse 13" on the rebranded Syfy-Channel (no pun intended) previously known as Sci-Fi-Channel aired. I have to admit that it actually took me eight hours of sleep to realize who exactly the guy on the last panel of #26 was (although "Huh" should have tipped me off, and there were rumours, and actually the brilliant-as-always Jo Chen cover gave it away but I am not very comic-literate) - but I am very, very hopeful that Espenson is going to get the comic series back on track, since the focus seemed to be a bit lost over the past few issues. The comic series doesn't have the same emotional depth that the show has (and roughly 35 pages a month just can't replace 45 minutes a week), but still, I am kind of amazed at the sheer grandeur the medium offers. The fact that the nemesiseseses of this run actually are well-known characters, some of which were previously presumed dead, or on the good side, is also pretty fracking awesome.
But about "Warehouse 13" - it took me some time to get used to "Fringe", and the great acting of the three main characters helped a lot. Now "Warehouse 13" also lives off the basic "X-Files" elements: the sceptic, cold female agents, the nice, likeable kinda guy, but since Espenson is one of the creators, it comes with a nice dose of geekness (it's about a secret government organization that collects "artefacts" of every kind in a giant underground warehouse). The pilot isn't quite as fascinating as Espenson's other gig (does she ever sleep?) "Caprica" was, but the summer doesn't offer that many choices, so I'll keep watching.

Warehouse 13-Trailer

And talking about many things Joss: A trailer for the previously unaired episode "Epitaph One" has been released last week. It features Felicia Day and my favourite Doll that might not show up a lot in the upcoming second season due to other engagements of actress Amy Acker. Darn you, "Happy Town"!
