Primaries 2008, apparently decided

Endlich scheint es vorbei zu sein: Obama hat jetzt nicht nur gewonnen, sondern Hillary hat auch verloren (das Gewinnen hat sich nicht so lange hingezogen wie das Verlieren, auch wenn man meinen würde, dass beides Hand in Hand geht).

Like her husband, Mrs. Clinton has a way of becoming the center of attention even when the spotlight is supposed to be trained elsewhere, a reality that Mr. Obama will no doubt continue to confront no matter how he proceeds. It was hardly a surprise that Mr. Obama lavished praise on Mrs. Clinton and her accomplishments in his remarks Tuesday night.
Until he deals with the Clinton question, it could be hard for Mr. Obama to move on to what he would like to achieve next: presenting himself to the entire electorate and not just Democrats, laying out his political ideology before Mr. McCain does it on his terms and trying to rectify some of the weaknesses highlighted by the combative primary process.

Hillary Clinton schließt nicht aus, Vizepräsidentin zu werden - ob das realistisch ist, hängt davon ab, ob Obama klug genug ist, zu erkennen, dass sie ihm in dieser Rolle wohl den Rang ablaufen würde (Al Gore, der ideale Vizepräsident, der ewige Vizepräsident, ist das Gegenteil von Hillary Clinton). Und natürlich hängt es davon ab, ob es überhaupt so weit kommt, denn nach diesem "epischen Kampf" den Sprung zu schaffen, nicht mehr länger die demokratische Konkurrentin, sondern den republikanischen Gegenkandidaten als Feindbild darzustellen, dürfte nach Monaten des Kampfes schwierig werden.
