If you want a sense of how something seems to be horribly off right now, out of balance, in a process of demise, go to Karlsplatz in the evening. I don't think it's ever been that bad before.
It's one of several places (inside a subway station) where drug addicts can get their prescribed substitutions (and you can watch as drugs are bought and sold...) and also where homeless people go, especially in winter. And there are more than ever, and they are getting younger (many, I believe, are younger than me).
Stimmt, ich war gestern (um Mitternacht) da und es war wirklich schlimm. Tagsüber (bzw. am Heimweg von der Uni um fünf) bekommt man das gar nicht so mit.
